Storyboard:

Extra shots being added in:
Shot 8a: Camera moves into man, OVER THE SHOULDER SHOT of him looking at picture.

Shot 8b: Cuts to black and white flashback of a party. Man is walking down street, then stops at house looks through window, then looks through letter box. Close up of mans eyes looking through letter box.

Shot 8c: Folds picture over to look at Eiben.

We decided to add these scenes into our opening sequence of a thriller after we had watched many other peices of work. We thought that our idea needed more conventions of a thriller, therefore we have added a flashback and black and white scenes.

Dialogue

• Robyn and Eiben Walking down path

Robyn: you’re so lucky to have George.

Eiben: Ah well, I think I deserve him 

Robyn: do you think so? Ahaaaaa, why do I never get the good ones!

Eiben: I’m sure we could find you someone. I think I should have another party, as last weekend’s was so good! Possibly next weekend?

Robyn: Yeah sure, text me later, (looks at watch) Oh look at the time, I must go see you tomorrow!

(Robyn walks off down a path, Eiben carries on)

(actresses changed and dialogue stayed the same)

We have chosen this location as it best fits our genre and the overall look of the house it very misteryous and Victorian. We thought as a group this location was very good and we are pleased with the change of location and also the surroundings of the area which we used.
The first photo is of the house as we do allot of shots of the stalker walking up the path and quiet a few establishing shots he walks up the path and stares through the window and also opens the letter box and looks through the door window
The second photo taken is of a door specifically the letter box as we will be doing a close up through and on this letter box as the stalker will be looking through the letter box.
The third photo is a zoom in looking through the letter box this is a point of view shot as the stalker will be looking through this and establishing the mis-en-scene as this is important as he is trespassing on someone else’s property.

The side hill formally known as the dell anotations of the dell

The Dell anotate notes on shots and stills pictures.

This is where Elisabeth leaves Francesca alone and when the music comes into play and also this is where the stalker is in site but hidden in the shrubbery.
To the right: This is a picture of me in the position that the stalker will be in and will be looking through the twigs to Francesca and also where the over shoulder shot of him looking at the photograph of Francesca and Elisabeth.
This path is windy and this is shot to show the path that the actresses will be walking down and also what the light is like as this is the same time of day that we filmed at. We chose it as it is atmospheric and windy and also has a lot of bends and allot of shrubbery that our stalker man could hide in therefore it was the perfect location and we are very happy with our choice of location.

This is an over the shoulder shot that we are going to be using in our thriller and this is where the stalker is going to be watching Francesca our actress walk past him we have used this shot as it makes the audience feel like a third person in this thriller and makes them feel very involved. We have placed him amongst the shrubbery as this sets the scene that he is hiding and doesn’t want to be found and he is starring at Francesca which exactly what we want our audience to think.

codicote bottom

This is one of the shots that we will be using this still picture has been taken in codicote bottom and as we know we are not using this location but I thought it would still be good if I showed. This was the arial shot to show the disorientation.
This is the path that we were going to use as it had loads of bends and twists and turns. Also the lighting was very good and dark.

Planning for location

Planning for location

We have decided to shoot at Codicote bottom, woods:

We have decided this as there are a lot of spooky angels and twists and turn in the woods and the path this adds to our idea and fits in perfectly with our shot ideas. There is not much light down as the woods and this adds to the effect in the shots also it fits well with the conventions of a thriller dark and dingy. This dark misty atmosphere hopefully will add to the tension and anticipation to the shoots. I hope this makes the audience feel scared and uneasy as thriller should.

The trees create a lovely crowed bowed in effect which make the atmosphere feel very eerie and scary. The trees create lovely shadows also when or if the wind blows the trees move and make the shadows look like people moving.

When the girl is walk down into the woods it raises suspicion as it doesn’t seem like a usual pathway home and doesn’t seem to be normal to be going into dark woods at night. It makes the audience wonder what is going to happen and make us think weather someone’s going to jump out.

This give suspense throughout the opening scene which is exactly what we feel we have achieved and we as a group feel that this location is ideal for the thriller genre.

We came across a few problems one of them being our location as the camera had difficulty picking up any image as the location was so dark and we also had trouble getting all our actors and actresses as Codicote is hard to get to in time for it to still be light. Also the weather was wet and it was a very overcast day that didn’t help the fact that we needed light on that afternoon.

So we have decided that the best location would be the so called “dell” this is a location that we feel as a group is good and effective for a thriller.

Title survey

We did a target audience survey on which title they would prefer:
Annie -3

Ruby-0

The Near Encounter-5

Encounter -0

Near Miss-6

Close-0

Wrong Turn-8

We have chosen to use wrong turn as our title. This is because we feel that it will make the audience think about the film and it will add more of a mysterious feels to the film. As near miss means that in the storyline whatever happens she’ll always be safe and we don’t want the storyline given away that easily. It gets the audience more involved. It makes the audience question what’s happened wrong turn in life wrong turn in a path wrong turn but about what? Also our target audience preferred this title to any of the other.
We have unfortunately found out that wrong turn is a title that is used for a film already therefore we have made a new title and this is our title now. Blind Corner is our title as Wrong Turn is a film with a very similar setting as use in the woods and there are trespassers on there land. As this has happened we ran another poll and Blind Corner came out tops.
2 poll:
Annie -3

Ruby-0

The Near Encounter-5

Encounter -0

Near Miss-6

Close-0

Blind Corner-8

We had to run another poll to make it fair and make sure that our target audience were happy with the sudden change of name. Blind Corner is our title as it is catchy and very mysterious sounding and has so many different meanings, and different questions behind this title.
