Planning for location
We have decided to shoot at Codicote bottom, woods:
We have decided this as there are a lot of spooky angels and twists and turn in the woods and the path this adds to our idea and fits in perfectly with our shot ideas. There is not much light down as the woods and this adds to the effect in the shots also it fits well with the conventions of a thriller dark and dingy. This dark misty atmosphere hopefully will add to the tension and anticipation to the shoots. I hope this makes the audience feel scared and uneasy as thriller should.
The trees create a lovely crowed bowed in effect which make the atmosphere feel very eerie and scary. The trees create lovely shadows also when or if the wind blows the trees move and make the shadows look like people moving.
When the girl is walk down into the woods it raises suspicion as it doesn’t seem like a usual pathway home and doesn’t seem to be normal to be going into dark woods at night. It makes the audience wonder what is going to happen and make us think weather someone’s going to jump out.
This give suspense throughout the opening scene which is exactly what we feel we have achieved and we as a group feel that this location is ideal for the thriller genre.
We came across a few problems one of them being our location as the camera had difficulty picking up any image as the location was so dark and we also had trouble getting all our actors and actresses as Codicote is hard to get to in time for it to still be light. Also the weather was wet and it was a very overcast day that didn’t help the fact that we needed light on that afternoon.
So we have decided that the best location would be the so called “dell” this is a location that we feel as a group is good and effective for a thriller.
